Privacy Policy

Sound Map is built with a "privacy-first" approach. We believe your memories and recordings belong to you, and our architecture is designed to reflect that.

1. Information We Collect

• Account Info: We collect your provider user ID and email (only if shared) from Apple or Google to manage your account and sync preferences.
• Metadata: We store tags, notes, mood, timestamps, and map pin coordinates associated with your recordings.
• Location Data: Optional. If you grant permission, we collect GPS coordinates solely to pin your recordings on the map.
• Subscription Status: We track your Premium entitlement status via Apple to provide unlocked features.
• Diagnostics: We may collect anonymous crash logs and performance metadata to improve App reliability.

2. How We Use Information

We use the collected data to:

• Synchronize your library across your devices.
• Provide map-based and list-based browsing.
• Offer customer support when you reach out to us.
• Ensure security and prevent abuse.

3. Where Data Is Stored

• Metadata: Stored in Firebase (Google Cloud) using secure industry-standard encryption.
• Audio Files: Stored in your personal iCloud Drive. We do not host your audio files on our servers. You remain in full control of these files.
• Local Cache: Data is also stored on your device for offline use.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Information is only shared with our service providers (Apple and Google/Firebase) as necessary to provide the App services described above, or if required by law.

5. Your Choices & Controls

• Permissions: You can enable or disable location permissions at any time in iOS Settings.
• Deletion: You can delete individual recordings or clear your entire metadata library within the App. Deleting a recording in-app will also remove the corresponding file from your iCloud.
• Account Deletion: You can request full account and data deletion through the app or by emailing support.

6. Data Retention

Metadata is retained as long as your account is active. Audio files remain in your iCloud until you delete them or your Apple account is closed.

7. Children's Privacy

Sound Map is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. International Transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located outside of your country of residence, primarily in the United States, via our provider Firebase.
